IB Internal Assessment Help

The Internal Assessment (IA) is your independent research investigation. 20–25% of your subject grade depends on it. Yet most students design weak IAs—vague research questions, poor methodology, shallow analysis—and lose 8–12 marks.

We teach you how to design a testable investigation, gather reliable data, analyse critically, and evaluate honestly. We mentor you through every stage. You own the work; we ensure it’s rigorous.

What Examiners Mark (The IA Rubric)

1. Exploration (6 marks) — Is your research question clear and focused? Is the method systematic?

2. Analysis (6 marks) — Do you process data appropriately? Do you identify patterns and relationships?

3. Evaluation (6 marks) — Do you assess the validity and reliability of your data? Do you identify limitations and suggest improvements?

Many students score 4–5 in Evaluation because they’re vague (“There were some errors”) instead of specific (“Measurement error of ±0.5 cm in the ruler affected pH readings by approximately 0.1 units”). We teach you to evaluate precisely.

Common IA Mistakes

Mistake 1: Vague research question. “How does temperature affect reaction rate?” is too broad. “To what extent does increasing temperature from 20°C to 60°C increase the reaction rate of sodium thiosulfate with hydrochloric acid?” is testable and clear.

Mistake 2: No controlled variables. You change one variable but don’t control others. Result: uninterpretable data.

Mistake 3: Shallow analysis. You list data but don’t interpret it. “The temperature increased, so the rate increased” is not analysis; “This supports the kinetic theory because higher temperature increases particle collision frequency, raising reaction rate” is analysis.

Mistake 4: No evaluation of error. You present results as if they’re perfect. Real science acknowledges uncertainty.

How We Help

Stage 1: Exploration (Weeks 1–2) — We help you formulate a clear, testable research question and design a valid method.

Stage 2: Investigation (Weeks 3–6) — You conduct the investigation. We’re available to troubleshoot or clarify methodology.

Stage 3: Analysis & Evaluation (Weeks 7–8) — You process data and analyse it. We review your work and ensure evaluation is specific and rigorous.

Stage 4: Final Draft (Weeks 9–10) — You polish the IA for submission. We give final feedback on clarity and precision.
