IB MYP Language Acquisition — Four Assessment Criteria
MYP subjects are assessed on four criteria (A–D), each marked out of 8. Our tutors help you maximise marks on every criterion.
Demonstrates understanding of spoken language in familiar and unfamiliar contexts. Identifies specific information, implied meaning, speaker attitude, and purpose across a range of audio texts.
Demonstrates understanding of written language at an appropriate phase level. Extracts information, identifies organisational features, infers meaning, and responds to a variety of text types.
Communicates effectively in the target language in a variety of interactive and productive contexts. Uses appropriate vocabulary, register, and pronunciation for the phase level.
Produces written communication in the target language using appropriate text types, organisational conventions, and language accuracy for the phase level.
What We Cover in IB MYP Language Acquisition

Phase 1–2 (Beginner): core vocabulary, present tense, simple sentence construction, classroom and personal contexts
Phase 3–4 (Intermediate): past and future tenses, opinion language, extended vocabulary across three themes, authentic text exposure
